Anya Lincoln is a painter who lives and works in New Orleans, Louisiana. Anya was born in Russia. After receiving her Master’s Degree in Fine Art Painting and Teaching from a Russian University, Anya moved to New Orleans in 1999. She quickly adopted Louisiana as her home. The vibrant energy of New Orleans and the lush colors of the Louisiana landscape, along with the abundant creatures that call South Louisiana their home, became Anya’s painting inspiration. Anya’s work is versatile and ranges from representational to abstract, with one theme connecting it all: Anya paints to capture the essence and the experience of her subjects first, arriving at recognizable form second.
Anya’s work parallels jazz music – layered and complex, emotionally expressive, creating harmony from chaos, and always, always improvised. Even when she repeats a motif, Anya never follows a formula and commits herself to finding the truth of her subject, as if exploring it for the first time.
Anya Lincoln’s work is part of many private and public collections, in the US and internationally.
